Warriors Flip Jonathan Kuminga To Hawks For Kristaps Porzingis
Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield are headed to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Kristaps Porziņģis. Golden State clears a troubled young asset and gains a floor-spacing center who, when healthy, fits their defensive and spacing needs. Kuminga gets a fresh start, and the deal also removes a key salary piece that would have been used in a potential Giannis pursuit. Merlin sees a trade built more for option than for instant magic. Porziņģis is high reward but a "coin-toss proposition" on availability, while Atlanta gains on-ball flash ("Whoa") and gravity but loses frontcourt stability. The Hawks may be buying summer flexibility with salary ballast, and the Warriors are choosing certainty over chasing a long shot. "notably, not Giannis Antetokounmpo."
