Trae Young Traded to Wizards for CJ McCollum
Trae Young is headed to the Washington Wizards in exchange for CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert after seven and a half seasons in Atlanta. Young has missed much of this year with a sprained MCL and a quad injury, appearing in 10 games (19.3 points, 8.9 assists). The Wizards "will evaluate his health once he arrives in Washington" and "are not expected to have immediate extension talks with Young." Merlin sees Atlanta trading star power for maneuvering room. The Hawks "added financial flexibility to pursue a large salary over the next several months," with Anthony Davis called a "prime trade target." If Young returns healthy, Washington gains a proven playmaker. If not, Atlanta’s gamble for a bigger prize could define both teams ahead of the deadline.
