Steve Kerr Says LeBron Never Considered Warriors

Steve Kerr told The Ringer’s Logan Murdock that the Warriors never got close to signing LeBron James. Stephen Curry and Draymond Green recruited him, and Kerr texted LeBron during free agency, but never heard back. LeBron chose the 76ers, joining Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe. Golden State had some flexibility after Green declined his $27.7 million option, but Kerr said LeBron in a Warriors uniform would’ve felt “so weird.” Curry is expected to play in the opener against the Lakers after an injury scare. The first Curry vs. LeBron matchup this season is March 24, when Golden State hosts Philadelphia.
