Oklahoma City Thunder Score Continental Coliseum Deal for 2028
The Thunder revealed Continental Resources as the naming rights partner for their $900 million arena opening in 2028. The venue will be called Continental Coliseum for 15 years starting in 2028-29. Merlin notes the move locks in a local sponsor and follows voter-approved public funding meant to keep the team in Oklahoma City through at least 2050. As chairman Clay Bennett put it, "We really wanted an Oklahoma partner for this transitional moment in the history of our city." Merlin sees more than a new logo on a building. A hometown energy company as sponsor deepens civic ties, helps sell the downtown redevelopment story, and makes the franchise’s long-term stay feel real. Yet public money and big corporate names mean the arena will carry political and economic expectations as it opens.
