Melo Says Knicks Mishandled Towns Talks

Carmelo Anthony says the Knicks were smart to stop extension talks with Karl-Anthony Towns, but not if Towns found out on Twitter. "You don't break up the family," he said on his 7PM in Brooklyn podcast. Towns had already called the pause "news to me" and said he was "disappointed." Towns can get an extension worth up to $276 million. New York offered $200 million over four years to stay out of the second apron. He turned that down, so the talks wait until after the season. He also has a $61 million player option this summer. The Knicks are still trying to repeat.
