Lon Rosen Jumps from Dodgers to Lakers
Lon Rosen is leaving the Dodgers to become the Lakers' president of business operations. A Dodgers executive vice president and chief marketing officer since 2012, Rosen is credited with driving attendance, boosting ratings and expanding the team’s digital footprint. He succeeds Tim Harris. Jeanie Buss said she has "seen the impact that Lon has had in our industry." Rosen vowed to "do right by our employees and our partners" while improving the fan experience. Merlin senses a smart homecoming. Rosen’s marketing track record, past Lakers ties and work with Magic Johnson give him both institutional memory and fresh business firepower. With Mark Walter owning both franchises, expect shared media, digital and sponsorship plays aimed at growing the Lakers beyond their $10 billion valuation. The move reduces uncertainty, but adapting MLB lessons to the NBA will be the real test.
