Lakers Sign Nick Smith Jr For Playoffs
The Lakers signed Nick Smith Jr. to a two-year contract Sunday, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported. Los Angeles waived Kobe Bufkin to open a playoff roster spot, then upgraded Smith from a two-way deal so he can play in the postseason. Smith has played 29 games for the Lakers, averaging 6.0 points while shooting 40 percent from three. He’s gotten more run with Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves injured, scoring 11 points against Oklahoma City and 12 against Golden State. He won’t carry the offense, but a few hot minutes could help a thin Lakers backcourt.
🧙♂️ Merlin’s Prediction
Smith gets at least one playoff game where he hits a couple big threes and earns real minutes.
