"Clippers' Michael Winger Interviews to Become Washington Wizards' Top Basketball Executive"
The Washington Wizards are in the midst of a month-long search for a new head of basketball operations, and Michael Winger, General Manager of the Los Angeles Clippers is the latest to be interviewed. Winger joins New Orleans GM Trajan Langdon as the two executives known to have had in-person meetings with Wizards owner Ted Leonsis and organizational leadership.
The Clippers recently made history by reaching the Western Conference Finals, and Winger’s experience in the NBA is extensive. He's ''previously spurned overtures to remain with the Clippers,'' where he worked with team president Lawrence Frank, as well as having worked with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Cleveland Cavaliers previously.
According to ESPN, the Wizards missed the playoffs in each of the past two seasons, and Leonsis is looking for someone to turn the team around. As the search for the best head of basketball operations for the franchise continues, Winger will look to make a strong impression against the competition.
