"Adam Silver 'Shocked' After Seeing Ja Morant Holding Firearm in Social Media Video, Suspended From Team Activities"

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver was "shocked" after seeing a video of Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant holding a firearm over the weekend. Following an investigation, the Grizzlies suspended Morant from all team activities while the NBA reviews the incident. Silver previously met with Morant in March after he was seen in an Instagram Live session holding a handgun and issued him an eight game suspension.

"Honestly, I was shocked when I saw this weekend that video," Silver said. "Now, we're in the process of investigating it, and we'll figure out exactly what happened to the best we can." He added that they discussed the "consequences first" and how "incredibly serious" the incident was.

In January, Morant's friend Davonte Pack was banned from attending Grizzlies games for a year after an investigation of a postgame confrontation with the Indiana Pacers' traveling party. Silver said he wanted to emphasize the "safety issues" that could come from such an act and the acknowledgement that Morant has a huge following with millions of kids globally, who could have seen him "celebrating in a way that act of using a firearm in that fashion."
