Bucks Ready to Interview Golden State's Kenny Atkinson, James Borrego, and Charles Lee for Head Coaching Position
The Milwaukee Bucks are gearing up to find their next head coach after Mike Budenholzer's departure. According to ESPN, the Bucks were granted permission to interview Golden State Warriors associate head coach Kenny Atkinson for the coaching job. They will also be interviewing current Bucks associate head coach Charles Lee and former Charlotte Hornets coach James Borrego.
Atkinson has a .388 winning percentage after 3-plus years with the Nets, who made the playoffs in the 2018-19 season. Borrego put together back-to-back 10-win improvements for the Hornets in his final two seasons with the team and managed to reach the NBA play-in tournament in each of his four seasons with them. Lee is vying for the Detroit Pistons' and Raptors’ head-coaching positions and is seen as a rising star after five years on Budenholzer's staff.
As Bucks GM Jon Horst said, “The significant amount of interest we have received from established, experienced and rookie head coaches around the NBA reflects the great opportunity our organization has in front of us." It should be an exciting summer for the Milwaukee Bucks!
